Could eight armed robberies of Trader Joe’s stores in Los Angeles and Orange Counties be related? That is what law enforcement investigators are asking after in Long Beach, Los Angeles — including the San Fernando Valley, Irvine and Culver City were all robbed in similar fashion, according to the O.C. Register.
MISSION VIEJO, Ca. (Jan. 4, 2017) -The Orange County Sheriff’s Department has arrested Matthew Scott Rendon, a 36-year-old man, suspected of robbing nine retailers over the last nearly five weeks in Orange and San Bernardino counties.
A proactive effort by the Sheriff’s Department’s Crime Analyst Detail, South Investigations and the South Directed Enforcement Team led to the Tuesday night arrest of a suspect wanted for armed robberies that resulted in a total loss of approximately $3,500. Continue reading
Man Robbed While Trying to Sell Limited Edition Sneakers
Irvine, Calif. (Nov. 17, 2017) – Irvine Police Department Detectives are looking for two suspects who robbed an Irvine resident of a pair of tennis shoes worth at least $6,000 on Tuesday.
A male victim posted an ad on Craigslist seeking a buyer for a pair of limited edition Adidas shoes designed by music industry icon Pharrell Williams. The sneakers display the words “You Nerd” on the front. The suspect responded to the ad and agreed to buy the shoes for $6,000. Similar shoes are selling on the secondary market for up to $9,000. Irvine, Calif. (July 30, 2017) – The Irvine Police Department has released a sketch of the suspect in an armed robbery that occurred Saturday night at Northwood Place apartments. The suspect is described as a black male in his late 20s to early 30s, approximately 6’0” to 6’2” and weighing 175 pounds. He has short black hair and dark eyes.
On Saturday just before 11 p.m., the Irvine Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls reporting shots fired on the 500 block of Hayes. Police arrived and determined that no one was injured in the incident, which occurred during a robbery. Continue reading

At approximately 3:00 p.m., the Irvine Police Department (IPD) responded to a robbery call at East West Bank inside 99 Ranch Market at 5402 Walnut Avenue.
A male suspect entered the bank, approached a teller, and demanded cash. Following the robbery, the suspect fled the scene on foot. The suspect was in possession of a firearm during the robbery, but it was not fired and no one was injured. Continue reading

Irvine, CA – Three suspects have been arrested for package theft after being observed by an attentive mail carrier. The suspects are identified as Alejandro Juarez Morales, 25, Vincente Juarez, 25, and a juvenile, all from the City of Corona. They were arrested on charges of theft, conspiracy, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
At approximately 3:00 p.m. on Dec. 14, 2015, a diligent mail carrier with the United States Postal Service called the Irvine Police Department (IPD) to report a possible package theft in progress outside of an Irvine residence. Campus police distributed footage of a man caught on surveillance cameras who is believed to be the one responsible for stealing computers and cellphones this year during September and October.
The person of interest is seen wearing a long-sleeved lavender shirt and carrying a black backpack going from floor to floor looking into offices the same day four computers were stolen, the campus police stated in a bulletin on Monday. Continue reading

Investigators Seek Public’s Assistance Identifying Armed Robbery Suspects
MISSION VIEJO, Calif. (October 21, 2015) – On Wednesday, October 21, 2015, an armed robbery occurred at the Fredric H. Rubel jewelry store inside The Shops at Mission Viejo located at 555 The Shops at Mission Viejo. Four male suspects entered the store and forcibly stole several jewelry items from inside the glass display cases. At least one of the suspects was armed with a handgun; however, no shots were fired and there were no injuries to any of the employees.
Shortly before 1:00 p.m., four male suspects entered the store and began smashing the glass jewelry display cases with a sledgehammer. One of the suspects pointed a handgun at employees and ordered them to the ground. The suspects were inside the store for approximately one minute and able to take an unknown amount of jewelry. Jewelry store employees are conducting an inventory to determine the value of their loss. Continue reading
