OCSD arrests suspect in Aliso Viejo double homicide
Aliso Viejo, Ca. (Oct. 13, 2017) – Luke William Ferguson, the 26-year-old man suspected of fatally shooting two people and wounding two others, was taken into custody Friday afternoon.
Deputies at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12, responded to reports of shots fired at 6 Ashbury Court in The Hamptons community.
Deputies arrived to find four victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Deputies rendered aid, but 51-year-old Lisa Cosenza, of Aliso Viejo, and 59-year-old Douglas Ferguson, of Aliso Viejo, succumbed to their injuries.
The other victims, a 23-year-old man and a 48-year-old man, were taken to a local hospital in serious condition.
When deputies arrived on scene, the suspect had already fled and members of OCSD investigations, SWAT and the Directed Enforcement Team launched an in-depth investigation to locate and apprehend the suspect.
Members of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department followed multiple leads, worked with other Southern California law enforcement agencies and employed a variety of investigations tactics to swiftly take the suspect into custody.
Their search took investigators to Ventura where the Orange County Sheriff’s Department partnered with Ventura PD to search a residence possibly housing the suspect. The home was cleared.
Shortly after, OCSD investigative resources and surveillance teams deployed in the Los Angeles County area were notified by Inglewood PD the suspect had been spotted driving at a high rate of speed.
Inglewood PD conducted a traffic stop and OC Sheriff’s personnel joined in the apprehension of the suspect and he was taken into custody.
A stolen vehicle and a handgun were located at the scene.
Luke William Ferguson, 26, was arrested on suspicion of homicide and attempted homicide.
He was transported to OC Sheriff’s Headquarters for questioning and is expected to be booked into Orange County Jail.
