Irvine resident Sidney Siemensma, 51-years-old, was found dead on the San Diego Creek trail behind the Los Olivos Apartments on Tuesday. The Irvine police have, as a result, increased patrols in that area but they say that they don’t believe there is a danger to the community, according to the O.C. Register.
The Irvine Police recently tweeted that “The investigation into the homicide is ongoing. Please know that we continue to work diligently around-the-clock on this case.”
Siemensma was found dead in a pool of blood around 7 a.m. on the San Diego Creek Trail behind the apartment complex at 350 Gitano, according to the Irvine Police.
Siemensma was near a bicycle but the police do not know yet if it is related to the incident. They are treating the incident as a homicide.
Siemensma’s stepdaughter has started a GoFundMe page. She states on that page that her stepdad “leaves behind a family and did not have life insurance. Help is needed please. Anything helps.” So far, as of this morning, they have raised just over $2,000. Typically funeral expenses can easily run over $10,000.
