Fatality Hit & Run Suspect Arrested
SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. (October 3, 2015) – On Saturday, October 3, 2015 at approximately 9:30 p.m., Andrew Christopher Michaels, 19, Laguna Niguel, was arrested in connection with the fatal hit and run collision last night on Del Obispo Street at the intersection of Paseo Carolina.
On the evening of Saturday, October 3, 2015, Orange County Sheriff’s Department traffic investigators obtained information that led them to Michaels’ residence in the City of Laguna Niguel. Deputies arrived and located a Dodge Ram truck, the vehicle believed to have struck the victim, parked in the driveway of the residence. A short time later, Michaels contacted Sheriff’s deputies at the station and following an interview with investigators, Michaels was arrested. The Dodge Ram truck was towed and will processed for additional evidence. Additional details are not immediately available as the investigation is ongoing.
Michaels was arrested for felony hit and run and will be booked into Orange County Jail. Additional information regarding bail and scheduled court appearances will be released once it is available.
