Investigators Seek Public’s Assistance Identifying Child Annoyance Suspect
DANA POINT, Calif. – (June 10, 2015) – Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Unit investigators are seeking assistance locating a child annoyance suspect after he approached two male, juveniles on Camino Capistrano near the intersection of Via Cannon. The suspect, driving a white truck, approached the 12 year-old and 9 year-old male brothers as they rode their scooters down the street from their house to a nearby swim school.
On Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at approximately 3:50 p.m., Orange County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence in the 34500 block of Camino Capistrano and contacted the male, juveniles and their mother. The juveniles indicated that at approximately 2:50 p.m., they were riding their scooters to Aloha Swim School located at 34232 Camino Capistrano when they were approached by the male suspect driving a white, Toyota pick-up truck. The suspect asked one of the juveniles if he needed help going anywhere; when the juvenile responded “No man, thanks,” the suspect said, “But I have candy.”
Both juveniles became frightened and continued riding their scooters to the swim school as the suspect followed them a short distance in the white truck. Once at the swim school, the suspect did not stop and drove away in an unknown direction. The juvenile victims did not notify anyone at the swim of the incident; however, notified their mother when they returned home.
The suspect is described as a “surfer looking” male, white, late 20’s to mid 30’s with a goatee and facial hair. The Toyota truck had a ladder in the back and two motorcycles in the bed.
Anyone with additional information regarding additional victims is asked to call the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s Special Victims Unit at (714) 647-7060 or (714) 647-7000. Anonymous tips may also be submitted to Orange County Crime Stoppers at 855-TIP-OCCS (855-847-6227) or at occrimestoppers.org.
