Victim Identified in Lake Forest Fatal Vehicle versus Skateboarder Collision
LAKE FOREST, Calif. – (November 25, 2014) – On Monday, November 24, 2014 at approximately 6:20 p.m., Orange County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a traffic collision on Trabuco Road, north of Cherry Avenue, involving an Acura SUV and a skateboarder. The skateboarder, David Valerio, 16, Mission Viejo, was transported by paramedics from the scene to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Based on the preliminary investigation and evidence obtained at the scene, the Acura SUV was travelling southbound on Trabuco Road, north of Cherry Avenue, when it collided with the Valerio as he retrieved his skateboard from lanes of traffic. Investigators are continuing to interview witnesses and review evidence collected at the scene; however, it does not appear drugs and/or alcohol were a factor on the part of the driver.
