Sheriff’s Department Investigating Threat Made to St. Mary’s School
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. – (September 9, 2014) – On Monday, September 8, 2014, St. Mary’s School received a potentially threatening email that created concern regarding the safety of the school. Orange County Sheriff’s investigators, including the School Mobile Assessment and Resource Team (SMART), immediately initiated an investigation in an attempt to determine the origin of the email and credibility of the threat. The SMART team continues to work closely with school administrators as the investigation is ongoing.
As a strictly precautionary measure, school administrators have closed the school campus today, Tuesday, September 9, 2014 and Wednesday, September 10, 2014. As the investigation moves forward and new information is obtained, Sheriff’s investigators and school administrators will continue to collaborate, prioritizing the safety of the school’s students and faculty. Head of St. Mary’s School Sharon Taylor stated, “The safety of our students always has been and remains our top priority.”
