On Saturday, April 26, 2014, the Irvine Police Department will be participating in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day.
This year, Irvine Police will be operating two collection sites:
• Irvine Civic Center, One Civic Center Plaza, Irvine 92614
• Kaiser Permanente Irvine Medical Center, 6670 Alton Pkwy, Irvine 92618
Collection hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The public may drop off their medications free and anonymously during those hours.
According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, prescription medicines that languish in home cabinets are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse and abuse. Also, improper disposal of these medicines, including flushing them down the toilet, is not good for the environment.
