Suspect Arrested in San Juan Capistrano Double Homicide

SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO, Calif. – (March 7, 2014) – Orange County Sheriff’s Department investigators have arrested, Ashton Colby Sachs, 19, Seattle, in connection with the double homicide that occurred last month at the residence located at 32271 Peppertree Bend, San Juan Capistrano. Ashton is the son of the deceased victims, Bradford and Andra Sachs, and was not residing at the residence on Peppertree Bend at the time of the murder. Ashton is a college student in the state of Washington and has resided in the Seattle area since the fall of 2013.

On Sunday, February 9, 2014, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Unit began investigating the death of Bradford and Andra Sachs after they were found shot to death inside their residence on Peppertree Bend. The Sachs’ 8 year-old son was also shot and critically injured during the incident. Investigators conducted numerous interviews and analyzed various items of evidence during the investigation.

On Thursday, March 6, 2014, following an intensive month-long investigation, Orange County Sheriff Homicide investigators detained Ashton in the San Diego area. He was interviewed and subsequently arrested on murder charges. Based on the investigation and interview of Ashton, it is apparent the Sachs’ were targeted victims and there is no additional threat to the community. Investigators have yet to identify a motive and believe there are no additional suspects in the crime, however the investigation is ongoing.

Ashton was booked for CPC 187(a) – Murder and is currently being held at the Orange County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to be in court on Monday, March 10, 2014.
