Celebrating a Life and a Passion after a Tragic Accident
Rather than allow the tragic car accident that claimed the life of Erin Joyce in December 2009 to ruin their memory of their daughter, her parents chose to celebrate her and her passion by creating the Erin Joyce Memorial Scholarship Fund in 2010. Since then, four El Toro High School track and field members have received $500 each to continue their athletic careers at the college level. Despite depleted funding, the school is seeking to not only continue the program but also extend it in order to offer a $1,000 scholarship to both a female and male student athlete each year. Jim Ballidis, of the Orange County personal injury law firm Allen, Flatt, Ballidis, and Leslie, will be matching all that’s collected this Saturday until this goal is attained.
Whether running in or watching the events, show your support for the legacy of this wonderful woman who died too young—a fate that any of us or our loved ones could suddenly face—and the dreams of our local youth athletes.
