City of Irvine
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, PRESS RELEASE #14-01-06
Determining factors includes area economy, job market, crime level and welfare of population
IRVINE, CA (January 6, 2014): The financial news and opinion website 24/7 Wall St. has named Irvine as the best-run city among America’s largest 100 cities in its annual best-of, worst-of list. Factors this year included the area’s economy, job market, crime level and welfare of the population.
Irvine was recognized for having a well-educated population with more than two-thirds having achieved a bachelor’s degree. The site also recognized that the heavy concentration of well-educated adults has led to higher incomes, with a median household income around $96,000 last year, exceeding nearly every other large city.
24/7 Wall St. also noted Irvine’s distinction as one of the safest cities in the nation; the City’s low unemployment rate; and the University of California, Irvine as the top local employer.
24/7 Wall St. ranked Irvine as the third best-run city in 2013 and second in 2012.
