IRVINE, CA (December 31, 2013): The City of Irvine is hosting a community forum to receive input regarding housing needs for the developmentally disabled residing in Irvine on Tuesday, January 21 from 6-9 p.m. at the Irvine Civic Center.
Facilitated by the City’s Task Force to Review Housing Needs of Developmentally Disabled, the meeting is designed to be a listening session to receive community input about what type of housing best serves the needs of the developmentally disabled population, with an emphasis on housing type, design aspects, cost and location.
Current City housing policies will also be presented at the forum and the community will have an opportunity to comment on these policies specifically to address the needs of the developmentally disabled. This includes the development of all types of housing from rental to ownership, single family and group homes to apartments as well as other housing types such as modular or mobile homes.
The goal of the Task Force is to develop draft housing policies to support the creation of housing for the developmentally disabled, in the City of Irvine, and make appropriate recommendations to the City Council. The Task Force recommendations will be presented to the City Council during the summer of 2014.
