For Immediate Release:
Tracy Newman Selected as Official Showcase Performer at The 10th Anniversary FAR-West Music Conference
Emmy Award-winning TV writer turned award-winning singer songwriter Tracy Newman is selected as Showcase Performer for The 10th Anniversary FAR-West Music Conference. The annual FAR-West conference provides a three-day, music-filled weekend for the folk and acoustic music community to unite, exchange songs and ideas, re-charge and do business. The Official Showcases are a centerpiece to the acoustic and folk music conference taking place at the Hyatt Regency in Irvine, CA, on October 10-13, 2013. The performers were chosen by a rigorous jurying process to represent the finest acoustic music the Western region has to offer. They join the previously announced Best of the West honorees, Chris Hillman and Ed Pearl and the Ash Grove Foundation, as highlights of a weekend of musical performance, networking, education and community.
The chosen performers for the Official Showcases exemplify the diversity of talents and styles that FAR-West has been nurturing and inspiring for the past ten years. From the sweet harmonies and intricate wordplay of Shelby & Tieg opening on Friday night, to the humor and pathos of Tracy Newman’s memorable songs as the final act on Saturday night, entertainment is the key word. There will be high-energy blues funk, blazing Americana, delicious Hawaiian slack key guitar work and island harmonies, unbelievable left-handed guitar flat picking, some down-home Midwest feel-good songs, a couple of folk song teaching legends, delightful Canadian foot-stomping hand-clapping melodies and hijinks, stirring gypsy soul harmonies, and two keyboard magicians. Kicking things off on Saturday night will be the Best of the West honoree, Chris Hillman, accompanied by his long-time collaborator and dear friend, Herb Pedersen.
The Official Showcase performances take place on Friday evening, October 11, from 6:30pm to 10 pm, and Saturday evening, October 12, also from 6:30 pm to 10 pm. Tracy Newman & The Reinforcements are performing Saturday, October 12 at 9:30 pm. The full schedule of performances are available here: http://www.far-west.org/showcase-schedule.html. Each dynamic show is open to the public to enjoy up-close-and-personal entertainment for three and a half hours for $10, an incredible entertainment bargain. Tickets are available at Brown Paper Tickets. For details and registration visit: www.FAR-West.org.
