A driver was arrested in a crash that killed one person and injured six others on Santiago Canyon Road in eastern Orange County . The accident happened around 2 a.m. near the intersection of Silverado Canyon Road and Santiago Canyon Road. Two Honda Civics were involved, according to ABC.
One woman was pronounced dead at the scene after being thrown from one of the cars, officials said. She was identified by the coroner’s office as Marie Johnson of Irvine.
Six other people in their teens or early 20s suffered minor injuries, and the occupants of the two cars may have known each other, officials said, according to the O.C. Register.
Investigators were reportedly looking into whether alcohol and speed-racing may have been factors in the collision, according to KTLA.
