IRVINE, CA (August 28, 2013): The City of Irvine is accepting applications for two member-at-large positions on the Irvine Senior Citizens Council. The Senior Council is comprised of seven members; five of which are appointed by the Irvine City Council and two member-at-large positions selected through a public recruitment process. The Senior Council acts in an advisory capacity to the Irvine City Council on matters related to older adults, including the planning of facilities, transportation, services and programs, and the City’s Senior Strategic Plan.
Applicants must reside in the City of Irvine, be 55 years of age at the time of appointment and willing to commit to a two-year term of active service beginning November 2013. Current and past Senior Council members are eligible to apply. Senior Council meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month from 9-11:30 a.m. at the Lakeview Senior Center.
Applications are available starting September 3, 2013 at the Lakeview and Rancho Senior Centers, the Irvine Civic Center and online at irvineseniors.org. Completed applications must be received by 4 p.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013. Applications may be mailed or hand delivered to any of the following locations:
