Per the Orange County Business Journal, ex-LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa (known as “Tony Vilar” to John and Ken fans) will be joining Irvine-based Banc of California per this posting today:
Irvine-based Banc of California Inc. has tapped former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa as strategic adviser to its chief executive, Steve Sugarman… Sugarman said he expects Villaraigosa to help strengthen PacTrust’s community-banking strategy “as we develop and identify new markets to go into.” He said the bank and Villaraigosa will continue to focus on lending to small businesses and to potential homeowners. Villaraigosa will work from Banc of California’s offices in Los Angeles.
The ex-Mayor was well known for contributing to the potential bankruptcy of Los Angeles, his
broken marriage, embarrassing public flings with a series of television news girls, being fined $42k after state and city investigations into his accepting tickets “to sports events, concerts and other pricey entertainment activities without reporting them as gifts“, his support of a city-wide plastic bag ban, his complete lack of work ethic and being rejected for an Obama cabinet appointment after being partying with the famous drunk/druggie Charlie Sheen. Villaraigosa’s reputation in LA is so bad that neither candidate in the recent Mayoral election wanted his endorsement. The former Mayor is also apparently broke.
We’re impressed, Banc of California! And with your spell checker, too.
