FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE, PRESS RELEASE #5-30-13
IRVINE, CA (May 30, 2013): Wednesday morning, May 29, Irvine Police Officers arrested, Jose Dominguez, Britney Vargas and Adolfo Gonzales for a variety of charges including possession of dangerous drugs, burglary tools and stolen property.
At approximately 6:50 a.m., an Irvine patrol officer observed a man chasing a bicyclist on Barranca Parkway. The bicyclist was traveling the wrong direction on Barranca Parkway near Jeffrey Road just before he disappeared into the Woodbridge Meadows Apartments. The man giving chase, a maintenance worker at the apartments, flagged down the officer with one hand while calling 911 with his other hand. As the officer pulled into the parking lot to try to locate the bicyclist, Irvine Police Dispatchers relayed information that the maintenance worker had witnessed the theft of the bicycle and was chasing the suspect. Before the officer could stop to talk to the witness, a car fleeing the complex came around a blind corner and nearly collided with her patrol cruiser.
The officer could see Dominguez, the man on the bicycle, hunched in the back seat of the fleeing car and detained the occupants. A search of the vehicle produced methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, burglary tools and a stolen credit card. The bicycle was also recovered in the parking lot.
