IRVINE, CA (May 23, 2013): On Thursday, May 30, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Irvine Police Department Personnel will don aprons over their uniforms to “Serve” the community and to benefit the Special Olympics during the “Tip-A-Cop” event. This year’s event is the largest yet and will include four Irvine Spectrum Center restaurants: Javier’s Cantina, Ruby’s Diner, Kabuki Japanese Restaurant and P.F. Chang’s China Bistro.
Members of the Department will volunteer their time and pair up with Special Olympic athletes to assist professional servers delivering food and collecting donations in the form of tips. Special Olympics personnel will be on hand to collect and tally the contributions.
Additionally, the Irvine Police Department will be showcasing specialty police vehicles including Mobil COMM and the SWAT rescue vehicle outside of the restaurants for community members to tour.
Please join us in supporting this important community event. This partnership between the Irvine Police Department, Javier’s, P.F. Chang’s, Ruby’s, Kabuki, the Irvine Spectrum Center and Special Olympics is a perfect example of how communities can come together and make a difference.
Funds raised during this event will be used to support local athletes by providing quality programs and athletic opportunities through Special Olympics.
