“The Republican majority on the Irvine City Council not only just voted to freeze all staff proposed fee increases, but they also lowered some fees,” according to Irvine City Commissioner Allan Bartlett, on his Facebook page. He also posted “What a difference a different philosophy makes for governance.”
Lynn Schott, a past Irvine Council candidate, also chimed in on Facebook tonight, “Irvine City Staff proposed several building fee increases at tonight’s meeting. Councilmembers Krom and Agran both spoke in favor of raising these fees. Christina Shea offered a substitute motion in favor of the decreasing certain fees, and freezing all others for at least a year. The substitute motion passed 3-2.”
Schott also wrote, “Please help your friends in the business community understand that Beth Krom and Larry Agran actively argued FOR building fee increases at tonight’s meeting. All 3 conservative members voted against fee increases.”
Why would Krom and Agran want to increase city fees when we are still trying to dig out of the economic mess created by President Barack Obama?
