IRVINE, CA (April 8, 2013): Irvine Police are continuing to investigate a traffic collision from Sunday, March 31, which has now claimed the life of a 29-year-old, Theodore Brewsaugh of Mission Viejo. Mr. Brewsaugh succumbed to injuries he sustained in the collision Saturday evening, April 6, just after 10:30 p.m.
The collision occurred on Irvine Boulevard at the intersection of Sand Canyon Avenue between a Mazda hatchback and a Toyota SUV. Irvine police officers and Orange County Fire Authority paramedics were dispatched to the collision at approximately 1:20 a.m. Officers arrived to find the all three occupants of the vehicles injured.
The victim, a passenger in the Mazda, was transported to a local trauma center with severe head injuries. The driver of the Mazda, a 27-year-old Mission Viejo woman, was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Two dogs were also traveling in the Mazda. One was killed during the collision and the other was released at the scene to a family member
Preliminary investigation indicates that both vehicles were traveling on Irvine Blvd. The Mazda was stopped at the intersection when the Toyota struck it from behind. The driver of the Toyota, Brad Marsicano, of Mission Viejo, was also transported to a local hospital non-life threatening injuries. Marsicano is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested at the hospital.
