Children and families of all ages are invited to enjoy free, hands-on art and science activities at UC Irvine’s Family Day at the Beall. The event offers a “kid-friendly” introduction to new media art relating to the Beall Center’s current exhibit, “Evidence… Works by Paul Vanouset” as well as presentations, hands-on activities, and more. Admission is free and open to the public. UCI is offering free parking on Saturday, April 20th.
Family Day includes interesting art projects, and hands-on demonstration by local high-tech companies in manufacturing, engineering, and design including The Paton Group, Epilog Laser Co., and SilPak Co. The Optics Institute of Southern California will present their “Artricks-Optricks” program, demonstrating the principles of light, vision, and other optical phenomena in a fun and engaging way; Irvine’s Mathobotix will demonstrate how they use robotics to excite generations of children to study science and technology; the OC Maker Faire reps will be helping launch paper rockets. Piaggios gourmet Food Truck will be offering delicious meals and grab-n-go items for purchase.
