IRVINE, CA (February 26, 2013): On February 26, 2013, just before 7:00 a.m., Irvine Police Officers arrested Brent Michael Brodie (3-5-94) of Irvine while he slept in a stolen vehicle in Irvine.
An alert neighbor called in the suspicious vehicle, leading to the arrest and discovery of evidence that Brodie may be responsible for a series of residential burglaries in south Irvine and Newport Beach. Based on property recovered from the vehicle, detectives believe Brodie is linked to a total of five residential burglaries and two stolen vehicles in the past 4 weeks. It appears Brodie would check to see if the resident was home and then enter through unlocked ground level windows. The stolen vehicles were taken from the burglary locations. In both vehicle thefts, there were no signs of forced entry and Brodie was in possession of the keys.
Detectives are working to identify and return the stolen property. Among the items recovered were laptop computers, designer items such as handbags and jewelry and one item in particular, a solid gold watch, believed to be worth tens of thousands of dollars.
Anyone with information regarding this case should contact the Irvine Police Department at 949-724-7200.
The Irvine Police Department would like to take this opportunity to remind the community of the value of reporting suspicious activity.
