Irvine Police Recover Stolen Guitars in $50,000 Heist from Storage Unit
Irvine, Calif. (October 18, 2018) – The Irvine Police Department has arrested two suspects in the theft of guitars valued at $50,000. Derek Allen Dodds, 34, and Brittney Christine Patterson, 27, both of Yucaipa, were arrested Tuesday at the Ontario Mills shopping mall.
On October 3, Irvine Police received a report of a theft from a storage unit at Extra Space Storage on Laguna Canyon Road in Irvine. The victim reported that 21 high-end guitars were taken from the unit. Irvine PD detectives began following leads and located a guitar for sale online. They set a meeting with the seller for Tuesday, October 16 at Ontario Mills. There, they found three of the stolen guitars in the suspects’ vehicle.
