Melissa Fox Announces Traffic Reduction and Transportation Choice Plan for Irvine
IRVINE, CA Irvine Community Services Commissioner and City Council candidate Melissa Fox announced today a Traffic and Transportation Plan for the City of Irvine. Fox said that her plan is designed to reduce Irvine’s traffic congestion both in the long and short term, while providing more transportation choices for Irvine’s residents and commuters. The Fox Plan is intended to reduce travel time, reduce noise, improve safety, improve resident access to employment and entertainment centers, improve parking and reduce emissions. Continue reading

Rebuilt Ortega Highway Interchange Ready for Drivers
$81.3 million worth of improvements open to traffic Sept. 4 and include realigned and widened bridge over the I-5 freeway
IRVINE – Improvements to the Ortega Highway Interchange at the San Diego (I-5) Freeway in San Juan Capistrano totaling more than $81 million are nearing completion and are expected to open to traffic on Friday, Sept. 4.
The opening of the Ortega Highway Interchange will help ease traffic delays through the heavily traveled interchange, especially during the peak morning and evening commutes. Continue reading
A survey seeking input on traffic conditions and transportation systems in the City of Irvine was launched today. Residents and commuters to the City are invited to provide their input on what works well, what areas might need improvement and what the City’s transportation priorities should be moving forward. The survey is available through September 3 at bit.ly/IrvineTrafficSurvey.
The traffic survey is part of a comprehensive study aimed at examining mobility in the City. The study also includes three community meetings: Thursday, July 30, at the Irvine Civic Center, 1 Civic Center Plaza; Monday, August 3, at University Community Park, 1 Beech Tree Lane; and Monday, August 10, at Cypress Community Park, 255 Visions. All meetings are from 6:30 to 8 p.m.; no RSVP is necessary. Attendees of the meetings will also have the opportunity to complete a survey onsite. Continue reading

WHAT IS THE I-5 IRVINE TUSTIN PROJECT?
The I-5 Irvine Tustin Project is a preliminary engineering and environmental study intended to evaluate ways to improve the I-5 between I-405 and SR-55, in the cities of Irvine and Tustin. Currently, about 350,000 motorists drive this nine-mile stretch every day. By 2040, daily traffic volumes are projected to increase to nearly ½ million, so planning for this growth is important to Orange County’s mobility, economy and quality of life. Continue reading

Sand Canyon Avenue Underpass Opens to Traffic
O.C. Bridges project wraps up, enhancing safety and eliminating wait times at rail crossing
ORANGE – Drivers traveling along Sand Canyon Avenue in Irvine will travel more safely and efficiently as they can now use a new underpass to drive below a busy rail line.
Irvine officials and leaders from the Orange County Transportation Authority gathered Monday to mark the opening of the Sand Canyon undercrossing, a $64 million project that is among eight such grade-separations in OCTA’s O.C. Bridges program. Continue reading
