An Irvine man has died a day after losing control of his car, crashing it into a concrete park bench and being ejected from the vehicle. Costa Mesa police said Randy Mountford, 26, is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, which occurred near the intersection of Adams Avenue and Mesa Verde Drive East. Police responded shortly after 3:30 a.m. Friday, according to the OC Register.
Police said the crash ejected Mountford from his 2000 Acura Integra, breaking his back and neck, and causing major head trauma. Mountford hadn’t been wearing a seat belt, police noted., according to another OC Register article.
He was pronounced dead around 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, according to the Orange County Coroner’s Office.
Mountford worked at Henry’s Farmers Markets, according to his Facebook page. He went to Woodbridge High in Irvine and lived in Costa Mesa, although the Coroner reported that he lived in Irvine. He was from Burnt Ranch, California.
