Can you believe it? Mimi Walters has done it again. But this time she has attacked a decorated Veteran’s military service right before Memorial Day Weekend. Who the heck is advising her?
OC GOP Central Committee member Aaron Bartlett recognizes the danger in what Walters is doing. He weighed in on this latest attack with this comment, “There’s been…blowback against Mimi for these negative mailers she has done against Greg dealing with his military service.”
Walters, in case you don’t know, is a tax-raising carpetbagger running for the 45th Congressional District. As a State Legislator Walters voted to increase the odious California Car Tax. When she did that she broke her pledge not to increase our taxes! It is a black mark on her record she simply cannot escape.
As for this attack on Greg Raths, what it boils down to is that he served in the White House during the Clinton years, but what Walters simply cannot come to terms with is that Raths was there by military appointment. He was not a Clinton hire. Raths was a great warrior for our country – and so was his dad, a World War II combat decorated attack pilot in the European theater from 1944-1945.
But don’t take my word for it. Here is what the Chairman of the Combat Veterans for Congress PAC had to say about Walters’ disgusting attack on Raths, a decorated, honorable Veteran of our U.S. Military:
May 13, 2014
My Fellow Americans:
Last week Orange County Congressional Candidate Mimi Walters sent a “hit piece” in the mail to voters claiming her opponent, retired Marine Colonel Greg Raths, was a “Bill Clinton Republican.” She based this false claim on the fact the Col. Raths worked in the Clinton White House. It true, he did. However, what she purposely left out to mislead the voters is that he was there an Assistant Chief of Staff of the White House Military Office. This is not a political positions assigned by the President, this was a military assignment and Col Raths was following orders.
What is particularly disturbing about this mailer is it shows either a shocking lack of knowledge of our military and National Security by Mimi Walters, or she chose to purposely try to deceive voters. This is the second time in recent weeks Walters has shown disregard for the military and veterans. She also supported a cut in benefits to veterans who have served their country with honor.
The facts of the matter are: In 1995, Lieutenant Colonel Raths attended the National Defense University in Washington, D.C. earning a Master of Science Degree in National Resource Strategy. Upon graduation, he was nominated and selected for the position of Assistant Chief of Staff of the White House Military Office. This prestigious position at the highest level of government enabled, now Colonel Raths, to view our government at the executive level. The military office ensures our Commander-in-Chief has the necessary military support to discharge his duties as President of the United States.
When war broke out in January 1991 in the Persian Gulf, Major Raths deployed to Bahrain. He flew 45 combat missions in the F/A-18 during Operation Desert Storm earning several Air Medals and other commendations. Promoted after the war to Lieutenant Colonel, Greg assumed the position of Executive Officer of VMFA-314. He later was selected to command the squadron, and in 1993 took his squadron to sea on the nuclear powered aircraft carrier, USS Abraham Lincoln. LtCol Raths again returned to the Persian Gulf and flew combat missions over Iraq enforcing the no-fly zone over the south. LtCol Raths has over 400 carrier landings.
This is only a small portion of Greg Raths stellar military career and his service in defense of the Republic. If you go to the Combat Veterans For Congress PAC Web site and click on the Endorsements page you can view Col Raths in Combat/Flight gear and read his very impressive bio.
It is shameful for Ms. Walters to resort to this type of desperation tactic when our nation is crying out for real leadership. We encourage you to support another Combat Veteran for Congress who repeatedly put his life on the line repeatedly to defend your “Liberty and Freedom.”
Respectfully,
Joseph R. John, USNA ’62

As a Vietnam veteran and as a Republican living in Irvine, I shall not be voting for Greg Raths. America does not need endless wars. His posted positions on Syria and on Israel do not represent traditional Republican values.
Do you really think Mimi won’t do exactly what the warmongers tell her too? At least Raths has the experience to know better.
