Quadruple Fatality Traffic Collision
SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. – (December 7, 2013) – On Saturday, December 7, 2013 at approximately 1:30 a.m., Orange County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a solo-vehicle traffic collision on South El Camino Real near the intersection of Valencia in the city of San Clemente. Deputies arrived and found a late model BMW 3-series with extensive damage. Four of the five occupants of the vehicle were pronounced deceased at the scene; the fifth occupant, a 24 year-old female, was treated and transported to a local trauma center with significant injuries.
The deceased victims have been identified as Pablo Vargas Diaz, 25, San Juan Capistrano, Martin Junior Nieto, 26, Laguna Niguel and Lucia Garcia Solis, 27, San Juan Capistrano. The fourth deceased victim has been tentatively identified but release of the name is pending confirmation.
The traffic collision is being investigated by the Orange County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Reconstruction Team (MART). The preliminary investigation indicates that both speed and alcohol are factors in the collision.
