IRVINE, CA (October 25, 2013): On Thursday, October 24, just after 7:00 p.m., Irvine Police Detectives arrested Joshua Campos (4-17-92) for commercial burglary. On October 21, Campos is believed to have stolen over $1,000 in canned baby formula from three different Irvine grocery and drug stores. Campos was captured on surveillance video and when officers reviewed the video, they recognized him from a prior arrest on October 11.
On October 11, Campos was stopped by an Irvine patrol officer as he left the area of a shopping center. During the course of the traffic stop, the officer found approximately $1,600 in stolen baby formula in his vehicle. Further investigation connected the stolen baby formula to two commercial burglaries in Irvine and one in the City of Orange. Campos was arrested for possession of stolen property on October 11 but bailed out of jail the next day and was out on bail when he is believed to have committed the three additional burglaries on October 21, in Irvine.
Detectives contacted several associates of Campos and were able to get a message to him, encouraging him to contact the Irvine Police Department. Just after 7:00 p.m. on Thursday October 25, Campos turned himself in to detectives at the police department and was arrested for the three burglaries on October 21.
Campos is currently being held in the Orange County Jail in lieu of $1000, 000 bail.
