Earlier this month the Orange County Transportation Authority Board of Directors voted to withhold a portion of its annual contribution to Metrolink until the rail authority’s board has a policy discussion about conducting a forensic audit of its finances. OCTA has been concerned about accounting irregularities and questionable controls, now Metrolink wants to increase its fares and give merit raises to its employees – some of whom may be responsible for mismanaging the rail authority’s finances in the first place. I am dumbfounded as to why the Metrolink board of directors has not yet taken corrective action.
