American Heart Association Hosts Orange County Go Red For Women Luncheon on National Wear Red Day, Feb. 5
IRVINE, Jan. 22, 2016 – The American Heart Association (AHA) Orange County Division will host its annual Go Red For Women Luncheon at Hotel Irvine Jamboree Center on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016 with the goal of empowering women to take charge of their health and raise funds for the mission of building healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and stroke.
The event kicks off in the morning with a health exhibit and free health screenings, followed by educational workshops on hormones and heart health, desk workouts, lesser known heart disease risk factors and healthy beef recipes.
The luncheon program will feature a panel discussion with Pilar Gerasimo, wellness expert and founder of Experience Life magazine, Dr. Courtney Baechler and heart attack survivor Jen Thorson. Stacey Buchholtz, local wife and mother of two, will share the story of how CPR gave her a second chance at life.
Heart disease and stroke cause one in three deaths among women and they are deadlier than all forms of cancer combined, yet only one in five American women believes that cardiovascular disease is her greatest health threat. The American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women movement provides women with the tools and resources they need to live longer, stronger, healthier lives.
Money raised at the luncheon support the American Heart Association’s lifesaving work, including funding innovative scientific research, bringing health education programs to children and adults in the community, setting science-based best practices for treating heart disease and stroke and advocating for policies that positively impact cardiovascular health.
The Orange County Go Red For Women Luncheon is sponsored nationally by Macy’s and locally presented by Cigna. Additional local sponsors include St. Joseph’s Health, Datron, Lindora, Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP, HCP Inc., Abbott Medical Optics, Allergan Foundation, CoreLogic, Ernst and Young, LLP, Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher, The Leets Consortium, Los Alamitos Medical Center, KPMG LLP, Navigant, O’Melveny & Meyers LLP, Paul Hastings LLP, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, Pricewaterhouse Coopers LLP, Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, Snell & Wilmer, Anaheim Regional Medical Center, Brown Rudnick, Resources Global Professionals, and UC Irvine Health.
