Irvine Council Members Jeff Lalloway and Shea are apparently no longer on speaking terms – having split now on three key votes – and a proposal to fix the Great Park in limbo, according to O.C. Register columnist Frank Mickadeit. Shea told Mickadeit that she left one closed session in tears after a confrontation with Lalloway.
This is of course horrible news but it doesn’t surprise me. The Republicans in Irvine always seem to fall apart at the seams, allowing Democratic Council Members Beth Krom and Larry Agran to win despite the fact that Irvine is dominated by Republican voters – and in spite of the Agranistas’ awful record.
Will Shea wake up and realize she is now sleeping with the enemy? Will Lalloway smooth it down and try to work with her? What about Irvine Mayor Steven Choi? Will he tire of this nonsense and run for Congress in 2014?
I love Lalloway but there are times when you have to compromise in order to keep your team happy. Losing Shea like this is not going to help the people of Irvine, even if Lalloway is right and she is wrong.
Imagine how ecstatic Krom and Agran are now? They have pulled off a victory again, despite the odds. I may not agree with their politics but you have to tip your hat to them. Until Irvine’s Republicans learn how to get along you have to figure that the Agranistas will keep on punking them.
What say you?

Your poll was biased and I select, “None of the Above.” Having been around Irvine politics for over thirty years, I can state with some degree of expertise that Jeff Lalloway is the one who is out of control on the City Council. The facts are; Lalloway may be able to threaten and intimindate the ever “Mr. Nice Guy,” Steven Choi, but he hasn’t a snowballs chance in hell of doing it to Christina Shea. She has her own mind, a very stiff backbone and works for the citizens of Irvine and not some political agenda. If Lalloway is smart, he will knock off the intimidation, apologize to Shea and start discussing issues together, making decisions as a Team. If that doesn’t happen and Lalloway’s voter approval rating continues to drop, he may well be the one who is a one term Council Member. The ball is in his court. Jeff, if you want to discuss or can use help mediating this mess, call me. I would like to see Team Irvine back on track and moving in sync.
I added a new answer on the poll, just for you – This is all Jeff Lalloway’s fault! He is a big meany!.
Thanks, “Meany” is not exactly the word I would have used for Jeff, but it will do. If you get around to interviewing Lalloway, ask him about the tantrum he threw in the audience, at the City Council Meeting two weeks ago when he stated he was going to kill Shea, financially and politically. Too bad someone did not get it on video as I am sure it would have been great material?
